The Workshop of Davidson is…

A place where individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities can work, gain vocational and life skills training, interact with their peers and integrate into the community and most importantly, have the opportunity to reach their highest potential. The Workshop focuses on “ability” and not necessarily, the disability. Program participants are given the chance to not only grow but to flourish, as a human being.

Community and Civic Engagement

We believe in giving back to the Community that gives so much to us! Workshop participants are encouraged to take part in service projects or speaking events, advocating for their programs and its funding. Participants have visited Raliegh to speak with legislative members, assisted with Hurricane relief, collected food for resource agencies, spoke at many United Way agency visits and helping with the thermometer project.

We work with many Special Olympians that compete at the local, state, national and international levels, participants look forward to Winter and Spring games each year.

Several Workshop participants not only take part in Civitan activities but also hold office positions with the Davidson County Civitan Club. In addition to monthly meetings, the club participates in a number of service projects including, coordinating canned food and school supply drives, participation in the United Way Week of Caring Campaign, and co-host the Nancy Sink Frazier Distinguished Teacher in Special Education banquet awarding a deserving Special Education teacher each year. Club members also host fundraisers to support the club by holding an annual raffle and parking cars at the BBQ festival.
